Everyone Enter the 2017 SPA Awards!

Just a quick note to say the 2017 Student Publication Association are now open until March 20 and it would be great to see some winners from The University of Kent this year!

It's pretty much the only full set of awards students can enter their journalism too now, after the closure of the Guardian Student Media Awards last year.

National Student Journalism Awards Close in 5 Days

The Student Publication Association's National Awards close in just FIVE DAYS.

There are 16 catergories ranging from best comment to best news story, jugded by industry professionals - and they are , of course, free to enter.

They'll be awarded at a glittering ceremony in April and I'd love to see some Kent entries!

Previously CfJ students have done pretty well in the awards:

Student Publication Association Conference at Kent on Saturday!

The Student Publication Association, the national body for student papers and journalists is holding its regional conference in Kent this Saturday.

Student journalists will be able to attend a full day of lectures, workshops and talks at the Canterbury campus, as well as network with other student journalists from across the South East.

Speakers from the Huffington Post, Wannabe Hacks, The Times and more will tackle issues such as social media verification, finding the best local stories and breaking into the industry.

Half Marathon Running (It's a really long way!)

Apologies for the self promotion in advance - especially to those of you who have already been bombarded with this message on my social media channels!

However, as a self-confessed lazy person and gin aficionado, I never expected to say I'll be running a half marathon so am looking for support and pennies for my run in October.

I'll be taking part in the Great South Run for Devon Air Ambulance so any donations or well wishes, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.
